Gazette du Bon Ton (March 1914 edition No.3, Plate 27). This image shows the Emerging New Woman in the forefront of the New Age, with the traditional in the background, left behind. The theatrical head dress and pearl accessories foreshadow classic 1920's Art deco style.

from Falbalas & Fanfreluches (published in 1924) - George Barbier's tour de force for Meynial of Paris and one of his homages to Cecile Sorel, a highly popular actress and performer of the time. This series of illustrated almanacs was produced from 1922 to 1926 only and depicted life in the fashion, social and artistic capital of the early inter-war years.
