black and gold business card
This reminds me of old books or old porcelain. And just sums up my love for black and gold. All at the same time.

concrete and brass
After browsing away on the internet for awhile, today I found this interesting art piece. I'm not sure what it means. The sculpture is called “We are still and reflective.” You can read more about it on this link and let me know. All I can think about is this could be cool pavement pattern for my backyard patio. I also like the brass that goes in between the slabs. That's combination of concrete and bass is so pretty.

Bedtime
The color of the pillows just reflect the color of the near by building. Planned or coincidence?

Brands in Full Bloom
A series of mixed media illustrations by Daryl Feril. Very well designed, colorful. And totally illustrates the look and the feel of each brand. I can totally see these as editorial pages or advertising on fashion magazine.

PIBAL BICYCLE BY PHILIPPE STARCK AND PEUGEOT
One of my favorite designers Philippe Starck has unveiled a prototype bicycle/scooter that he worked in corroboration with a car company Peugeot. The bike was designed as a part of a free cycle scheme in Bordeaux, France. I have always loved Starck's whimsical sense of design, but not for practicality:( But hey this one makes so much sense! The first 300 units are expected to be manufactured and delivered by Peugeot in June, when they’ll be loaned to citizens for free. Awesome!

Graphic design icon Massimo Vignelli died at 83
Massimo Vignelli, a graphic designer who was well regarded by his most notably design of NY subway map has died today at the age of 83. It's a sad day for all graphic nerds. His work is truly a finest example of modern classical era in graphic design.
“Massimo, probably more than anyone else, gets the credit for introducing a European Modernist point of view to American graphic design,” Michael Bierut, a partner at Pentagram, a leading graphic design firm, said.
Watch his past interview below.

200 years of graphic design in one poster
I'm a sucker for history and this very poster made me stop, look and even giggle(how geeky of me!). The poster depicted progression of styles in graphic design in past 200 years. I like how they include subculture like Pulp and Street Art Guerrilla.
Here are some close ups. (below)

Please, Don't Be A Dick
We Are Goat, a consultant studio in London as published a useful guide book giving advice to clients on how to work with designers. Why? Because there are so many books written for designers, like books on design and how to deal with clients. Why not a book for clients to learn about designers, and at least play nice. I think it's hands down the best book title this year according to me. I almost don't even wanna read the book because I'm afraid it's not as fun as looking at the title and start daydreaming, romanticizing a scene how I would actually say this to someone.

Geometric wedding cakes, something I wanna make
I think it's time for a modern take on something so traditional like wedding and wedding cakes. I honestly didn't care about my wedding and wished for it to be over. But I am so excited by these geometric cake trend and wish that I can have a wedding again, so I can make these cakes for myself.

Comic Sans redesigned, and I still don't love it...
Australian designer Craig Rozynski has created Comic Neue, an "updated" version of much-hated Comic Sans. I appreciated the effort to make the type cleaner by straighten some legs. But in the same time it stripped down personality and quirk this font used to have. As designer I find this new version quite challenging to use since it's not quite "fun" or not quite "polished". It's something in-between. What do you think?
